World’s Third Largest Sports Manufacturer Selects Movea’s SmartMotion® Technology to Power Intelligent Sports Applications
Oxylane’s Geonaute delivers ONdaily, a smarter pedometer, powered by Movea MoveFit™ Solutions
GRENOBLE, France – Dec. 20, 2012 – Movea, the leading provider of motion sensing and data fusion technology in sports equipment applications, today revealed its SmartMotion Technology is at the heart of ONdaily, a next-generation pedometer from Oxylane’s Geonaute brand, one of the world’s leading sports companies that also owns the Decathlon stores. This small accessory which can be carried in a purse or a pocket, enables consumers—regardless of their athletic abilities and activities—to achieve their fitness goals.
Available now across most of Europe in Decathlon stores, the ONdaily pedometer leverages Movea’s MoveaFit portfolio to count users’ steps, measure calorie expenditure and track speed and distance covered throughout the day. Additionally, the device lets users choose from more than 80 built-in health and fitness challenges and syncs with the myGeonaute web-based portal to track and analyze performance.
“Movea’s SmartMotion Technology is ideal to easily integrate motion technology into devices for people looking to achieve their fitness and health goals, even in their everyday physical activity,” said Jérémy Gensse, ONdaily product manager for Géonaute. “The combination of ONdaily’s integrated off the shelf motion sensors and Movea’s embedded SmartMotion firmware simultaneously running on the device’s microprocessor is a perfect example of integrating smart technology into a simple, useful product.”
Movea’s SmartMotion software turns sensor data into motion intelligence, powering smarter sports and fitness equipment. Highly accurate information from motion-aware equipment and clothing makes training more effective, motivating people to achieve greater results during physical activity, while still having fun.
“We’ve successfully partnered with Oxylane’s impressive lineup of sports brands before and this is yet another exciting opportunity to work with Oxylane’s Geonaute brand to deliver state-of-the-art sensor fusion technology to health-conscious consumers,” said Sam Guilaumé, CEO of Movea. “There is a wealth of innovation taking place in the sports equipment market and Movea is helping to develop the next generation of MEMS-enabled athletic accessories and apparel.”
Movea provides cutting-edge sports and fitness solutions to OEMs in a wide range of areas including golf, running, tennis, swimming and fitness. In addition to the ONdaily pedometer, Movea worked with Oxylane’s sports retail arm, Decathlon, in developing the Nabaiji waterproof MP3 player and lapcounter that allows users to play music and track their laps, distance, time and sports goals.
